The purpose of the Allied Healthcare Scholarship Program (AHSP) is to encourage allied healthcare professionals to practice direct patient care in a medically underserved area (MUA) of California; increase the number of trained allied healthcare professionals; and encourage underrepresented groups to pursue an allied healthcare profession. If awarded, the applicant agrees to provide direct patient care on a full time basis in a designated shortage area for a minimum of one (1) year or complete 100 volunteer hours.
The AHSP is administered by the Health Professions Education Foundation (Foundation) and is funded by a grant from “The California Wellness Foundation”. All awards are subject to the availability of funding.

To be eligible for the AHSP, the applicant must:

Be currently accepted or enrolled in an in one of the following allied healthcare programs: Pharmacy and Physical Therapy/Assistant. Other programs will also be considered; however, these are the priority programs.

Be free from any other service obligation

Have valid legal presence and ability to work and provide care in the state of California

Graduate after January 31, 2014

Be willing to work in a medically underserved area for two years

Submit a complete application that is postmarked on or before October 1, 2013
