Thornton, MD, MPH, FACOG, the Anarcha, Betsy, and Lucy Memorial Scholarship is given in honor of three slaves who, as subjects of experimentation that helped shape advances in current clinical and surgical knowledge, are recognized today as the Mothers of Gynecology.
