The scholarship is named in honor of John Spurling, O.B.E., Chairman of the Board of PetPartners, Inc. PetPartners, which celebrates its 10th anniversary this year, provides comprehensive and affordable pet health insurance to dog and cat owners in all 50 states, including the AKC Pet Healthcare Plan.

The AKC Humane Fund works to promote the cause of responsible pet ownership through a variety of grant programs. This new scholarship will provide funds for students who are pursuing educational programs that include responsible pet ownership in their curricula, including veterinary medicine, veterinary technology, physical therapy, animal care, animal behavior, grooming and training.

Qualifications and Eligibility:

• Applicant must be a full time student enrolled in a degree or certification program at an accredited U.S. institution
• Scholarship must be used for tuition and will be paid directly to the institution on the student’s behalf
• Applicants that are awarded grants must comply with a reporting process as indicated by the AKC Humane Fund.
