Scholarship opportunity for WesternU COMP-NW students ONLY who wish to practice in rural health

In the spirit of WesternU-COMP's ongoing mission to graduate primary care physicians, the faculty has established the Rural Health Track Option (RHTO) for its enrolled COMP-Northwest DO students.

In partnership with the Oregon Office of Rural Health, COMP-Northwest is now participating in the Rural Health Track Option for OMS III and OMS IV students. This is a scholarship up to $35,000 per year for students seeking to practice in rural Oregon. As indicated in the overview, a year of service in a rural designated site per year of scholarship is required.

This scholarship is designed for Primary Care Physicians, including

  • Family Medicine
  • General Internal Medicine
  • General Pediatrics
  • General Surgery
  • Community Psychiatry
  • OB/GYN

·         The RHTO cohort will complete the standard DO curriculum offered by COMP and COMP - Northwest as well as an innovative curriculum training students in rural health core competencies

·         During their clinical rotations of DO training, RHTO students will rotate at designated rural health care core rotation sites where they will apply their knowledge and skills while having access to their RHTO mentors and advisor.
