To provide opportunities and support for research training and career development of minorities and for involving minority institutions in cancer research, research training, education and outreach.

The mission of the American Association for Cancer Research is to prevent and cure cancer through research, education, communication, and collaboration. Through its programs and services, the AACR fosters research in cancer and related biomedical science; accelerates the dissemination of new research findings among scientists and others dedicated to the conquest of cancer; promotes science education and training; and advances the understanding of cancer etiology, prevention, diagnosis, and treatment throughout the world.

  • Candidates must be full-time graduate students, medical students, residents, clinical or postdoctoral fellows, or junior faculty members.
  • Only minority groups that have been defined by the National Cancer Institute as being traditionally underrepresented in cancer and biomedical research are eligible for this award: African Americans, Alaskan Natives, Hispanics, Native Americans and Native Pacific Islanders.
  • Candidates must be citizens or permanent residents of the United States or Canada.
  • Candidates need not be members of the AACR to apply for this award.
