To define the responsibilities and membership of the Research Advisory committee.
The Research Advisory Committee (RAC) advises the Associate Dean for Research on all matters related to Faculty and student research at the College. Its mission is to enhance and strengthen College research. It may do so by providing advice and acting as a resource for: 1) organizing research seminars and programs; 2) recommending to the Associate Dean for Research the use of internal research funds assigned by the College to the RAC; 3) maintaining research equipment funded by CVM; 4) supervising research mentorship for students and 5) serving as a resource for reviewing, grant proposals and manuscripts at the request of faculty members.
The RAC includes five members (four elected by the Faculty and one appointed by the Dean) who serve 3-year terms. In addition, at the committee’s discretion, an additional member from the College or another academic institution may be asked to join and participate in the RAC’s discussions. The Associate Dean for Research serves as a non-voting, ex officio member of the RAC.
