WesternU Graduate Helped Instruct Faculty of the Department of Anesthesiology at Stanford University School of Medicine
Pomona, Calif. - 12/01/2006 -- David Chim, DO, a 2003 graduate of the College of Osteopathic Medicine of the Pacific (COMP) at Western University of Health Sciences, recently assisted in an Ultrasound Guided Regional Anesthesia Workshop held Saturday, December 2, for the faculty of the Department of Anesthesiology at Stanford University School of Medicine, according to Clint Adams, DO, COMP dean and professor of Family Medicine.
Dr. Chim assisted Peter Cheng, DO, an anesthesiologist at Kaiser's Riverside regional center, in showing attendees how to use ultrasound to perform peripheral nerve blocks (regional anesthesia) with the use of live models as well as specially prepared cadavers. Dr. Chim studied under Dr. Cheng as a family practice resident at the facility.
The two were invited to present at Stanford by Dr. Steven Shafer, a professor of anesthesiology and longtime colleague of Dr. Cheng. Dr. Cheng's son, Jason Cheng, is a 1999 COMP graduate and an anesthesiologist at Kaiser's Bellflower location.
